“Good morning, Oppo! Didn’t see you there.”

It feels like it’s been forever, how are you all doing? School’s been super busy lately, but I’ve been lurking here on Oppo in my spare time. I’ve had the above 1LE for 3 months and 8k miles now.

What have you all been up to lately? I heard Oppo almost disappeared a while back and am relieved to see you’re all still here.

Also, I still have the MR2 that my Kinja handle references:

Have any recent stories to share? I’m excited to hear what you’ve all been up to.

Thanks for the follow! Camero is both awesome at autocross and an insanely competent daily too. Never, not one single time, have I had any visibility-related safety issues. I owe Oppo a review of it once uni’s out for winter break haha.

Hey man, good to hear from you: working on a compilation of OPPO’s fleet as we speak. What’s the year of each of your cars? Both manual, right?

‘91 MR2 and ‘19 Camero, both manual & base model engine (2.2 NA and 2.0T, respectively)

I’ve been wishing I had a 1LE is how I’ve been. Tell us about your 8k miles.

It’s both a competent daily and Miata-like on the track. The suspension is kinda overbuilt versus the lighter weight (wheel/tire sizes are direct from the Camaro SS and most of the suspension components carry over too) so it rides surprisingly well for a track-package car.

The 50/50 weight balance is a dream at autocross; it feels like a big Miata with turbo lag. Extremely quick even on the stock runflat tires. I’ll be getting some RE-71Rs and a second set of rims eventually.

The 2.0T makes very little noise, but it does have a very addicting blowoff valve sound with the windows down.

Overall, I highly recommend it. They’re about $10k cheaper than a Golf R or Civic Type R,  but deliver similar lap times and RWD fun.

I’ve driven the SS and SS 1LE. Incredibly impressive machines. The visibility and the overall size are the only things I worry about. I had a test drive and the interior seemed cozy. On my second drive I felt like I couldn’t see. I guess I’d have to learn to rely on mirrors more than I do now.
